We recently had a stay-cation and tried to eat a few new places to write about. We managed to find a couple places to try to share with you.
Through recommendation from a friend, we checked out Grain of Rice in the west end on Webber Greens Dr. and Winterburn Rd. It is an Asian restaurant serving up a variety of tasty dishes.
Their website talks about locally sourcing ingredients and getting back down to the basics.
We shared a couple items on their menu that are marked gluten free. Be sure to read the menu carefully and ask questions because not all protein options for a menu item are gluten free. For example we had the vermicelli, but only the pork is gluten free. We also tried the gai lan with chicken. That was Amanda's favorite dish, she really loved the gai lan, which is described as a Chinese broccoli.
The vermicelli was just delicious. Amanda was a bit worried about the pork, because she is not a fan of pork, but loved it. And the portions were generous. I love how they cut the pork too.

Finally we shared salad rolls, which were very tasty as well. They gave us fish sauce, because the regular sauce it comes with is not gluten free.
